City Driver Apprentice

Fedex is hiring for City Driver Apprentice

As a City Driver Apprentice, you will undergo training to become proficient in the operation of a delivery vehicle within the city. This role involves learning the skills necessary to manage delivery routes, handle freight, and ensure customer satisfaction while complying with safety regulations and company policies.

Essential Functions:

• Training and Development: Participate in training programs to learn the operation of delivery vehicles and handling of freight.
• Route Management: Learn to follow assigned routes and schedules for timely delivery of packages.
• Freight Handling: Assist in loading and unloading packages, using appropriate equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks.
• Vehicle Operation: Develop skills in operating delivery vehicles safely and efficiently while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service by interacting professionally with customers, addressing their concerns, and ensuring accurate delivery of packages.
• Documentation: Learn to verify and complete necessary documentation for shipments and deliveries.
• Vehicle Maintenance: Perform routine checks and minor maintenance on delivery vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• License: Must possess a valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or in process of obtaining).
• Skills: Basic math and communication skills, ability to follow instructions and complete training programs.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry packages of varying weights, and perform tasks such as bending, twisting, and climbing in and out of the vehicle.
• Experience: Previous experience in a driving or customer service role is a plus but not required.

Working Conditions:

• Exposure to varying weather conditions, noise, and vibration.
• May involve working extended hours or adjusting schedules based on operational needs.

Pay:
Rate of Pay: $25.30 - $30.14
